Join us for the premiere of the Cold War Marines of Adak, Alaska – A Documentary

The documentary covers the trip back to Adak from 3 August – 10 August 2024 where Marine Veterans Dr. Barry Erdman, Michael Rodgers, Retired Sgt Major Charles Ables and Byron Bailey reunited as Marines while filming a documentary to tell the story of the Cold War Marines of Adak. The documentary shares Adak’s military history, its strategic location and the primary mission of the Marine Corps Security Force, responsible for standing guard over 76 thermonuclear war heads, known as the MK57/B57 tactical atomic bomb. Included in the documentary is a tour of the Modified Advanced Underwater Weapons (MAUW) Compound, the Marine Barracks and Bering Hill facilities, the re-dedication of the Marine Corps Memorial Park and a memorial service in honor of fallen Marine 1st Lt. Alfred Lussier, Jr. who was tragically killed during a search and rescue mission on Adak in 1983.

Following the premiere of the documentary, a celebration and Adak reunion will be held on the top floor at Chesty’s Bar and Grill.
