Australia’s military has been one of the U.S. Marine Corps’ strongest partners in times of trouble since the first World War. And with just under 80,000 active-duty and reserve personnel, the Australian Defence Force continues to support the Marines in current conflicts, training opportunities and military education endeavors.
This year, Anzac Day, the Australia-New Zealand national day of remembrance, will commemorate 100 years since the end of World War I and will also mark the centenary of Australia and the United States fighting side by side as mates at the Battle of Hamel in July of 1918.
Australian Consul General Chris Oldfield will talk about the significance of these dates to both countries and the legacy of World War I.
Guest Speaker: Chris Oldfield, Australian Consul General
